South Lebanon Township

In 1988, the State passed legislation making recycling mandatory in municipalities with a population of 5,000 or more.  South Lebanon Township falls into this category and therefore has mandatory recycling.  All residential, commercial, industrial and governmental establishments are required by law to recycle.  Our Supervisors wanted to keep the small business owners in operation, so they decided to have the recycling handled by the local haulers.   Containers for collecting residential recyclables can be picked up at the Township building.  Items mandated by our ordinance to be recycled are clear and colored glass, bi-metal and aluminum cans, PET#1 and HDEP#2 plastic bottles and jars & newspapers.  Commercial, industrial and municipal establishments must also recycle office paper and corrugated cardboard.  Check with your waste hauler to be sure you are making the most of the recycling program.

If you are having problems with your waste hauler picking up your recycling items, please contact Phyllis at the Township office so the problem can be resolved.  You can also contact Phyllis if you have any other questions on recycling.

If you witness any illegal dumping in the Township, please report it to Curtis Kulp, Township Manager at 274-0481 or by

e-mail to sltownship@comcast.net

PHONE RECYCLING PROCEDURES

We have a program to recycle old cell phones and inkjet cartridges.  Just drop your used ink cartridge or old cell phone and all accessories at the Township Building.  We will take care of sending them to the recycling company.  The Township will receive approximately $.50 to $4.00 per item.

Thanks for participating in these programs and helping to protect our environment for future generations.

    ANOTHER AWARD FOR THE TOWNSHIP

South Lebanon Township was once again recognized for our recycling efforts.  Township residents and businesses recycled 45% of their waste in 2008.  Good job everyone!  The new award is on display in the Township building lobby.  All of YOUR  recycling awards are in our display case, so if  you get a chance, stop by and check them out.  Thanks again for all your efforts!
